Overview
Description
Kintaro Hattori opened a Tokyo watch shop in 1881; by 1913 Seiko produced Japan’s first wristwatch. Milestones include the Astron, world’s first quartz wristwatch (1969), the Kinetic automatic‑quartz (1988) and Spring Drive’s glide‑wheel regulation (1999). Seiko controls every component—from grow‑your‑own quartz to Zaratsu polishing—and fields Prospex divers, Presage dress pieces and the high‑end Grand Seiko offshoot.
